A little background… Sydney is the daughter Chippewa Morgan’s Yolo. Yolo is both a NAVHDA Natural Ability Test Prize 1 and Utility Test Prize 1 recipient. Yolo’s Dam, Chippewa Gracie’s Morgan, together with Chippewa Delta’s Garret, produced seven Breeders Award litters. Morgan is the only bitch in the history of NAVHDA to ever achieve that number. I purchased Sydney in 2022 from Chippewa kennels with the express purpose of breeding her. Howard Meyer, owner of Chippewa Kennels, is a retired Animal Geneticist at Oregon State University. Howard has put his knowledge and energy into the breeding program at Chippewa to produce some of the finest dogs available. They are all bred to be family dogs first, but to be excellent companions in the field or blind. Knowing that Howard’s second retirement was imminent, I purchased Sydney so I could hopefully continue breeding excellent hunting dogs. The sire of this litter is Sharp Shooters Monty of Chippewa, a dog Howard bought specifically to breed with the progeny of Morgan & Garret. Monty has produced four litters with Sydney’s half sister and all for have earned NAVHDA Breeders Awards. and all have earned Breeders Awards. Sydney received a perfect score at her NAVHDA Natural Ability test earning a Prize 1. She weighs 45 pounds, is eager to please and a pleasure to train. In the field she is relatively close working, and combines air and ground scenting to great results. She has been naturally very steady, frequently even to flush. While those skills are only anecdotal, I plan on quantifying them with her Utility Test.
Syd’s litter will be collected from their home in White Salmon, Washington the week of September 2, 2024. All puppies come with a health guarantee, the litter will be registered with AKC and all puppies individually registered with NAVHDA, all buyers on the same email discussion group and will receive the same puppy training guides, all puppies invited to Puppy Training Day, I will subsidize the Natural Ability test for all puppies, etc. Price for all puppies will be $2,000 and sold preferably to hunting or sporting homes.
